PC-Corsac®
telephone and radio call recording systems

Architecture

PC Corsac® systems comprise the following modules:

  • Recording devices modules
  • Communication and controlling modules CTI
  • Recordings Database
  • Software to configure the system and to browse the recordings
The recording devices modules ensure the adjustment to the relevant standard of a telephone or radio-telephone line. Their set-up, mode of operation and location in the LAN network is independent of other system modules. The system can be composed of many recording modules, while specialised devices can be installed on various computers in LAN in such a way that it is possible to record telephone calls from different types of telephone lines - both analogue or digital. The recordings can be made at different locations and, thanks to the recording modules, they are subsequently transferred automatically to a single database, where they are stored, archived, and made available to authorised users.
Communication and controlling modules are used in the more complex systems, such as call centre or contact centre. These modules allow communication with the PBX by TAPI or CSTA interfaces in order to describe and record precisely the telecommunication events controlled by the PBX.
The recordings database constitutes an autonomous module. It collects all the recordings made at one or at many locations in the network, it manages them, secures them against unauthorised access, damage or overloading and renders the data available to authorised users. PC Corsac® SQL systems use professional databases, operating in the client-server architecture, to store recordings. For example, these can be such databases as Microsoft SQL Server, Interbase, Firebird or MySQL. The choice of the type of database depends on the user. The database of recordings is protected against unauthorised access at many levels.
Features of the software package make it possible to configure the PC Corsac® system, including the rights of individual users, and define the manner of searching, playing back, exporting recordings, etc. The core functions of this software are presented in the chapter entitled "Functionality".
In the most basic form the system can be composed of one computer containing the recording devices module, database server and archive management software. It can be a computer dedicated exclusively to recording, storing and playing back the recorded telephone calls. The entire PC Corsac® application, along with the specialised equipment and the database, can be installed on a selected LAN workstation and can share the computer's resources with other software packages.
However, the above presented PC Corsac® architecture allows to develop far more complex systems to record and describe telephone and radio calls. Such a system can comprise dedicated PC stations, autonomic "black boxes" or extension cards, installed at one or at many places in LAN or WAN. Simple examples are presented in the chapter entitles "System expansion possibilities - scalability".
The PC Corsac® systems incorporate many mechanisms to ensure the security and confidentiality of the stored data. These include both system mechanisms of NT platform and some functions of PC Corsac® application.
